The following pattern is, I think, quite pretty. I hope you agree.

Here’s how it was made.
- First I made a simple pattern in Windows Paintbrush.
- Then I made a copy of the pattern in step one, and flipped it. (Horizontally or vertically: it makes no difference.)
- Finally I merged the two to create the pattern you see above. A pixel is white if the corresponding pixels in (1) and (2) are the same colour (be it white or black) and black if the corresponding pixels in (1) and (2) are opposite colours.
Perhaps this will inspire you to create patterns of your own.
